Eat in Midland

Fill up

If you’re like us, a great getaway is always planned around great food. Let’s start with the unique and new. Mister Chip’s has brought a trendy take on Asian-inspired cuisine to West Texas with noodle bowls and classic Asian dishes. They also have a unique selection of sake, wine, and Asian beers to add some extra sparkle to your meal. Cork & Pig Tavern has a wide selection of signature, chef-driven entrees, wood-fired pizzas, sandwiches, and signature cocktails. They have a wide selection – but they do all of it right. Fill up on fresh, Northern Italian pastas at Venezia and make a selection from their award-winning wine list. Pasta (and wine) are always a good choice.

Midland doesn’t only have lunch and dinner options galore. Plan your mornings around the many brunch options to start your days fun and satisfied.

Cocktails & Hops

What is an extended getaway without great drinks? Midland has happy hours to appeal to the masses, whether you prefer sipping on craft brews or cocktails. There’s something about a beer flight that says, “vacation.” Stop by a local favorite – Tall City Brewing. This taproom has a fun atmosphere with several draught names paying homage to West Texas. Be sure to include the Haboob Hefeweizen and the Five Hour Drive Honey Blonde Ale in your flight selections.

The Basement at Opal's

If you prefer a craft cocktail over hops, Midland has several options. The Basement at Opal’s Table has an extensive spirits list, small plates for snacks, and cozy seating nooks for intimate conversation. For a different vibe, The Tailgate is more of an outdoor hangout with live music, food trucks, and a lively atmosphere. Want in on a secret? Check out the speakeasy hidden in Fair to Midland. And maybe grab a corn dog and a funnel cake while you’re there.

See & Do

For entertainment on your extended Midland stay, keep an eye on the calendar and plan on attending a performance at Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center. Midland’s state-of-the-art performing arts center hosts everything from comedians, musicians, broadway theater productions, and more. For some West Texan culture, stop by the Museum of the Southwest campus and explore the Turner Mansion, the Juliette and Fred Turner, Jr. Memorial Art Museum, and sit back under the stars at the Blakemore Planetarium.

Once you’ve filled your Midland culture fix, carve out some time to explore the Downtown Midland Micro Market and the many boutiques along Centennial park. For the kid in all of us, you’ll want to stop by Susie’s South Forty Candy Factory for some sweet treats made onsite. Try the toffee Susie is known for (it’s a Guinness World Record-Holder, after all) and see it made first-hand – you’ll want to come back for more. Keep the fun going by booking a tee time at Green Acres Mini Golf. Green Acres has been a Midland landmark since 1955 and offers old-fashioned fun all ages will enjoy. Putt your way back in time and enjoy classic concessions and fantastic snow cones on the green.
