Featured Five: Upcoming Midland Events You’ll Want on Your Calendar

What is a Texas Summer without drinks on a lawn, live music, food trucks, funnel cake, and face paint? Summer in West Texas is perfect for events – and in Midland, we know how to gather and have a good time with our community. So, grab your calendars and make sure you pencil these in – these are our Featured Five upcoming events for the rest of Summer!

1. Summer Sunday Lawn Concerts

June – August 

All summer long, Midland-ers gather for this free fan-favorite event. Pack a picnic and grab some greenspace on the Museum of the Southwest lawn for the Summer Sunday Lawn Concert series. The whole family can sit back and enjoy the best local jazz, pop, country, and folk music scene. Music starts at 7 pm!

2. Midland County Fair

August 24th – 27th

Come on down to the 85th annual Midland County Fair, hosted at the Midland County Horseshoe. It’s the largest public event in the city and one you won’t want to miss. There’s truly something for everyone at the fair, including carnival rides, a roping competition, live music, fair food, games, and so much more.

3. High Sky Wing CAF Airsho

September 9th – 10th

Bring the family to the Midland International Air & Space Port and look to the sky! The High Sky Wing Commemorative Air Force Airsho showcases a dazzling aircraft display in the tall city sky. This is your chance to see vintage military aircraft take to the sky in ways you won’t experience anywhere else. Feel the ground shake during simulated bomb raids, strafing runs, and the infamous wall of fire.

4. Tall City Blues Fest

September 23rd

Tall City Blues Fest is an original American music festival hosted at the rustic Old Lumberyard at The Destination Midland. Indulge in genuine blues Americana at this signature Midland event that attracts thousands and showcases award-winning blues musicians. 

5. SeptemberFest

September 29th – October 1st

Explore makers of many mediums, including blown glass, jewelry, oil paintings, and ceramics. This outdoor art market and family fun event is located on the front lawn of the historic Turner Mansion. Find your next favorite piece of art and see artists in action while you enjoy live music and great local food and drinks!
