The goal of the Laura Bush Literacy Program is to foster a love for reading in children. Reading events are scheduled the 3rd Thursday of each month for kids of all ages.
The George W. Bush Childhood Home also has the Laura Bush Bookshelves, which are also fully stocked and ready for children of all ages to receive a free book to call their own. Come by during our normal business hours and pick out your book! Limit 1 book per child/day. You can also exchange your old books for new ones. New or gently used book donations are always welcomed. Drop your books off in our Gift Shop during our normal business hours.
Reading events are sponsored by Whataburger, The Morrow Family Foundation, The Texas Pecos Trail Region, Midland College Students in Philanthropy and Midland High Students in Philanthropy
The mission of the George W. Bush Childhood Home, Inc. is to express and interpret the history of one of America's great families by telling the story of the Bush Family and the childhood of George W. Bush in Midland, Texas, and celebrating the lives of two presidents, two governors, and two first Ladies.
