Midland, Texas —U.S. Olympic and Davis Cup team members will headline The West Texas Tennis Classic on September 26, at 3 p.m. at the Bush Tennis Center, 5700 Briarwood Ave., in Midland. The world’s No. 1 ranked doubles team of Mike and Bob Bryan, along with the No. 1 ranked American singles player, John Isner, and ATP Tour star Sam Querrey, will headline the event to help support youth tennis programs at the Bush Tennis Center.
The event will feature singles between John Isner and Sam Querrey followed by doubles featuring the Bryan Brothers against Isner and Querrey. After that, the Bryan brothers and their band will entertain attendees in a live concert.
“I know that Mike, John, Sam and I are all looking forward to coming to Midland and helping support the Bush Tennis Center’s youth tennis programs,” said Bob Bryan. “We have always had great support from our fans in Texas and look forward to a full day of tennis and music.”
“This will be a great day of world‐class tennis, music and family entertainment,” said Tim Stallard, president of PROLINK Live. “These four players have very few days off and we feel very fortunate that they are coming to Midland to share their time and talent in support of the Bush youth tennis programs.”
The Bryan Brothers have won over 100 ATP Tour Titles including multiple titles at The US Open, Wimbledon, The French Open and The Australian Open. In 2012, the Bryan’s won the Gold Medal at The Summer Olympics games in London.
John Isner is currently the No. 1 ranked American in the World and No. 16 on the ATP Tour rankings. Isner won the longest match in the history of professional tennis in 2010 with a 64, 36, 67, 76, 70‐68 at Wimbledon that took 11 hours and 5 minutes.
Sam Querrey has won seven ATP Tour singles titles and has been ranked as high as No. 17 in the world. He has served as a member of both the U.S. Olympic and Davis Cup teams. Querrey also holds the ATP Tour record for the most consecutive service aces with 10 aces against fellow American James Blake.
Earlier that morning, high school dual matches featuring area West Texas schools will take place, as well as a clinic with the professionals after lunch for featured guests.
“The mission of the Bush Tennis Center is to provide everyone the opportunity to experience the game of tennis, regardless of physical, financial or geographical barriers,” said Luis Valdez, director of tennis at the Bush Tennis Center.
