Midland, Texas —The Midland and Odessa Convention & Visitors Bureaus (CVB’s) are hosting the Texas State United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Mixed Tournament, which will be held in both cities for five consecutive weekends.  This is an annual tournament for the state association, with competitions for bowling teams, doubles, and singles.

“We are so excited to host this event in Midland and Odessa,” said Debi Smith, president of the Midland USBC. “We have worked very hard in getting this into the Permian Basin.”

Bowlers from across the state of Texas will be traveling to Midland and Odessa to compete in the tournament on October 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24, 30, 31, and November 6 and 7. Team competitions will be held at Midland Park Lanes and the doubles and singles competitions will be held at Diamond Lanes in Odessa.

“Partnering with the Odessa CVB to gain this tournament was a wonderful experience and shows the strength and influence our communities have when we work together,” said Christopher Havins, convention sales manager for the Midland CVB.   “The Midland CVB is very proud to help host this event with our sister city and look forward to future opportunities to bring back this tournament and other events to the Permian Basin.”

“Both of our local associations are sure that we can showcase the wonderful people and the great things that make West Texas such a good place to visit,” said Carol Underwood, president of the Odessa USBC. “We think that this event will also be a big boost to the local economies and generate revenue for fuel suppliers, motels, restaurants and shopping facilities.”
