On Saturday, January 19, the I-20 Wildlife Preserve at 2201 S. Midland Drive will open to the public. Guided tours will be available throughout the day during the grand opening on Saturday. Handicap parking is available.
This new wildlife preserve features a handicap-accessible trail system that includes feeding stations, bird blinds, boardwalks, teaching platforms and a hawk tower. The main loop surrounds a 30-acre playa wetland that is home to many of Texas’ native wildlife. Bobcats, porcupines, badgers, foxes, rabbits, many butterfly and bird species are seen regularly at the preserve.
The preserve will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. October through February and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. March through September.
