Midland, Texas —On Friday, June 12, through Sunday, June 14, the 6th Annual Great Outdoors Expo, Hunting, Fishing and Camping Show, will take place at the new Midland County Horseshoe Pavilion, 2514 Arena Trail. The show continues to grow each year in an effort to keep the heritage of the great outdoors alive and to bring entertainment, commerce and fun to the region. The Expo provides attendees an opportunity to see and purchase new products and services that are out there and to meet with outfitters from many different regions and states to book that dream hunt or fishing trip.
Kim Sansom is the organizer of the expo and said the show will be full with exhibitors, activities and entertainment. This year, the show will feature more than 160 booths, boats, blinds, feeders, home décor, all‐terrain vehicles, camping and outdoor gear. New this year is the BB Gun Galley and 3‐D Archery Range.
“Thanks to the communities in and around the Permian Basin, the show gets bigger every year,” said Sansom. “The help we receive from the Chamber and CVB are subperb, better than anywhere else we go! Great places to eat, shop, just a good central place for the region.”
Exhibitors returning this year include Jason Reynolds’ “Fetch N Fish” tub, the High Flying Retriever Dog Show, fishing demonstrations, and a hunting seminar. Texas Jr. Anglers is bringing in a fishing tank for the kids to catch live fish. Texas Parks & Wildlife’s “Wall of Shame” will also be on view. A new display this year is the W.O.W., display of World’s Outstanding Whitetails. Booths are also outside between the Pavilion and the Education Building just west of the Pavilion. On Sunday, the grand prize drawing will be a fishing trip to Alaska, donated by Glacier Bay Eagles Nest Lodge.
The expo will run from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $9 for adults, $7 for seniors age 62 and older, and $5 for children ages five to 15, and is good for the entire weekend. On Friday, children ages fifteen and under will receive free admission, and on Sunday, seniors get a special $5 admission.
